Big Idea Project is more than just a project. It starts small—maybe with just one class—but it ripples compassion through entire schools and communities. The students and staff at Bishop Machebeuf High School recently experienced this ripple effect.
In our first year as a new non-profit, the leadership at Machebeuf recognized the potential of Big Idea Project to inspire students to become great people who do great things. In 2015, as a second year Colorado school, Machebeuf provided the Big Idea Project experience to every senior. The result was inspiring.
Deacon Marc Nestorick, principal of BMHS, wrote the following after experiencing their recent presentation night.
“There were several occasions during the evening when I was moved to tears. I watched as our students presented their speeches with eloquence and maturity far beyond their years. I watched professional student-made videos and heard multiple presentations that brought together our Catholic faith with education and action. I saw our students show joy and support for each other. It truly was a demonstration of the high caliber learning and formation that is taking place here.”
Well said. We too were moved to tears. The students showed love and empathy for the people they impacted in their projects and for one another. The seniors stood as one unified body as they shared with the audience their passions, results and lessons learned.
And that’s only one semester at one school. Imagine what could be accomplished if every school in Colorado, and our country, provided Big Idea Project to their students…[/x_text][/x_column][/x_row][/x_section]
